Life Transitions Counseling with Monique Ngo, LMFT

Change is an inevitable part of life. From starting a new job, ending a relationship, or moving to a new city; navigating life transitions can be challenging and overwhelming. Transitions are often marked by a period of change. Some transitions are expected like graduating from school, becoming a parent, and starting a new job. Other times it feels unexpected like the ending of a relationship or losing a job. We also go through natural transitions throughout the year moving from one season to the next. Regardless, it is common to experience a wide range of feelings moving through life transitions.

During times of transition, it is common to experience:

  • Fear
  • Excitement
  • Joy
  • Uncertainty
  • Grief
  • Overwhelm
  • Anxiety
  • Regret
  • Lonely
  • Questioning identity, purpose, and or relationships
  • difficulty making choices

Navigating major life transitions can be mentally and emotionally challenging. Having a social support system is helpful in moving through these times of change.

Sunsets of proof that endings can often be beautiful too.

Navigating Transitions

Every kind of transition comes with its own set of challenges. Becoming a new parent can be joyous but also overwhelming to adjust to a major lifestyle change. Relocating to a new city can be exciting and also cause anxiety in seeking out new relationships and creating a new sense of home.

If you are needing additional support in navigating through a major life transition, seeking out mental health services can help in making the process feel less lonely and more emotionally and mentally manageable.
